1. Visit the Setup Website
Open your web browser and go to:
➡️ https://office.com/setup or www.office.com/setup
This opens the official Microsoft Office setup portal.
2. Sign in with Your Microsoft Account
You must sign in with your Microsoft account — this is the same email/password you used to buy Office or that you use with Microsoft services (Outlook, Xbox, etc.).
If you don’t have one, you’ll be prompted to create an account.
3. Enter Your Product Key (If Required)
If your Office purchase came with a 25-character product key (like a card in the box or sent by email), enter it when prompted. It looks like:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Note: For Microsoft 365 subscriptions, you don’t always need to enter a product key — signing in with the same Microsoft account usually activates your license automatically.
4. Choose Your Region & Language
After signing in and entering your key (if needed), you’ll be asked to select your region and preferred language for the Office installation.
5. Download Office
Once your key is validated and your account is linked:
✔️ Click Install Office
✔️ Choose the version you want (e.g., Microsoft 365, Office 2019, etc.)
The installer file will begin downloading to your device.
6. Run the Installer
Open the downloaded file (usually from your browser’s downloads menu).
Depending on your system, you might see:
• “Setup.exe” on Windows
• “.pkg” file on Mac
Allow the installer to run when prompted. The installation will begin and may take a few minutes.
7. Open & Activate Office
After installation:
- Open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Sign in with your Microsoft account (if asked)
- Office will automatically activate your license and finish setup.
This gives you full access to all included apps and services.
